Learning is the focus at Pinckneyville Middle. Students are taught the Gwinnett County Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) for each subject and grade level. This rigorous curriculum includes the state standards as outlined in Georgia's Performance Standards (GPS).
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) is also an important part of our academic rigor. The IB programme requires students to engage in higher level reasoning and critical thinking regarding their learning. IB students focus on learning for understanding, not simply learning for knowledge. Another important component of this program is a full year foreign language program. IBMYP is a cornerstone piece of our academic program and prepares students to continue their studies and participate in the diploma or certification IB program offered at Norcross High School.
